At PhycoHealth, we believe that global change happens when local communities come together—so we’re inviting you, your family, and your friends to experience firsthand how our regenerative seaweed systems can benefit both our planet and our local region. From hands-on farm tours to collaborative food events with fellow makers, we’re weaving seaweed into every corner of community life, including being a proudly crowd equity funded company where are customers and partners are our parterns in driving change. Here’s how you can get involved:
1. Visit the PhycoFactory, Meet the Science
We are always pen during the week to visitors to come in and see where our products get made. We regularly host community groups, and curious customers year-round.
-
Drop by: as a cusomter or visotr at any time furing the week - Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm
-
Group Visits: Book a 45-minute "Seaweed Cellar Door" at our factory with a presentation (seeps that catch nutrient runoff), where you’ll learn how we culture our seaweed on seawater, see the seaweed nurdery in action.
- Science Lab Demos: Explore our on-site extraction lab to see how we transform fresh seaweed into gut-friendly fibers and Phyaluronic® skincare molecules. Local teachers: let’s tailor a curriculum visit that ties marine biology, chemistry, and sustainability into your lesson plans!
2. Collaborate with Local Food Artisans
Seaweed isn’t just for sushi anymore—our regional chefs, nut roasters, bakeries, and breweries are inventing remarkable ways to blend seaweed into everyday flavors.
-
Bay Bites & Brew: At our most recent “Bay Bites & Brew” event, we teamed with the Kraaken Sourdough Bkaery, Jervis Bay Mussel Farm, and the Jervis Bay Brewery, and debuted Phychondrin infused Apple Cake dosed with seaweed custard. Though you might think algae and apple don’t belong together, “seaweed custard” stole the show and you might be surprised to know that most of the custard in the supermarket is also made with seaweed ingredients.
-
Nut Roaster Pop-Ups: Our friends at Batemans Nut Roasters have begun to dust macadamias with seaweed and wasabi and feature regulalry at all of the local coastal markets - roasting live.
-
Local pasta manufacturers: We work with the artisan pasta manufacturers to create our range of pasta with 10% seaweed. Duro Pasta uses traditional bronze dies and premium high protein durum semolina to make our healthier and more sustainable range of pasta.
3. Celebrate Global Marine Days—Right Here at Home
Our coastal community has been marking World Oceans Day and International Seaweed Day for five straight years—with ever-growing enthusiasm. Keep an eye out for these local events.
-
World Oceans Day Fiesta (every June 8): Live music on the foreshore, a “Seaweed & Spice” tasting bar featuring phycoyogurt dips, and a silent auction of local art (all proceeds go to the Shoalhaven Marine Rescue). Last year’s highlight: a sandcastle competition where teams built “Underwater Forests,” reminding everyone why kelp beds matter.
4. Become a shareholder
-
Becuase we are a proudly crowd equity funded company that works toward profit for people and the planet, and now have over 800 sharehodlers, there is usually an opportunity to join us when we either open the doors for an innovative project to invest in, or to purchase shares from a shareholder that is making secondary shares available. Why “Think Global, Act Local” Matters
When we grow seaweed onshore—balancing nutrient flows, boosting oxygen, and creating high-value ingredients—we’re directly addressing global challenges (climate change, food security, water quality) right here in our state of NSW. But none of it works without local energy:
-
** Educating Tomorrow’s Stewards:** By bringing children and teenagers to the farm, we spark curiosity and empower the next generation of marine scientists, chefs, and changemakers.
-
** Strengthening Local Economies:** Collaborative food events and partnerships keep dollars circulating in our region—helping small-batch producers and restaurants thrive while amplifying sustainable practices.
-
** Building Resilience:** When community groups rally to clean up beaches, raise funds for reef restoration, or bake seaweed bread for a fundraiser, we knit a social safety net that can withstand future environmental and economic shocks.
Looking Ahead
Our local region—bound by river, estuary, and open ocean—is the perfect stage for “Think Global, Act Local” in action. By learning, collaborating, and celebrating together, we harness the power of seaweed to protect marine ecosystems, invigorate regional food culture, and inspire a healthier planet.
If you have an idea for an event, partnership, or school project, drop us a line at info@phycohealth.com.au and let’s make it happen. Together, we’ll ensure that our global vision of marine health is anchored in local passion, creativity, and community spirit.
