Product Information

Our gut microbiomes are complex ecosystems, much like rainforest soils, and host many different types of bacteria. The problem with the modern diet is that it is often deficient in important foods, primarily fibres and phenolic compounds from plants. Importantly, you should supply the microbiome diversity in your gut with a diversity of dietary fibres, because different bacteria prefer different types of fibre. Therefore, a combination of dietary fire is as important, and more effective, in maintaining a good gut balance. Our research has shown just how beneficial our Seafibre can be in your diet.

Very good dietary supplement

Phybre has 2 x types of Resistant Starch as well as being a plant-based powder. So easy to take with water. Phyco's products are strictly tested to include truly organic seaweed-based foods - crucial for maintaining a healthy gut. Definitely recommended.

Can I ask how you are using Phybre? Are you adding it to foods or taking it as a drink? We find that when mixed into smoothies, baking or porridge, then you can barely taste the Phybre at all. In our clinical studies with SeaFibre, we saw a reduction in inflammation, lowered cholesterol levels and an increase in beneficial gut bacteria species when participants took SeaFibre for 6 weeks. We recommend taking 2g of SeaFibre-3 per day (equivalent to 2 heaped tablespoons of Phybre), following the dosage in our clinical studies. Phybre also contains additional fibre from green banana powder and brown basmati to increase fibre diversity.

Can be too much of a good thing :)

Good, but the recommended dose of 1-2 heaped tablespoons is too much to start with! I had an attack of collywobbles at first, then reduced dose to 1 teaspoon and built up slowly from there. Much better!! I eat a high fibre diet anyway, so it wasn't as though my gut is completely unaccustomed to fibre. But there was something about this one, maybe the green banana?? Anyway take it easy.

Oh dear! This is unusual especially if you already eat a diet high in fibre, but perhaps the different variety of fibres in Phybre were new to your gut and so you needed some time to adjust. You did the right thing by reducing the amount each day and building it back up again slowly. This gives your gut bacteria time to adjust and the beneficial bacteria populations can increase gradually rather than all at once. Remember to drink plenty of water when increasing fibre in your diet too.

Fibre with Feel!

I use this Phybre with SeaFibre in my morning brekkies with yoghurt, fruits and honey. It doesn’t get in the way of the other ingredients but compliment them! Who woulda thought green bananas could be so nutritious! Love it!
